So I wanted to take a break from our top ten list for a minute, and show you a new picture I recently took of myself. I desperately needed a new self portrait:)

This is something you can do as well! If you don’t know what strobe lights are, they are the professional lights used to create the light you want in a picture. Photography focuses a great deal on lighting; You’re trying to create a controlled environment.

The best strobes to invest in are the ones made by ProFoto. They’re expensive, but definitely worth the money. If you can’t afford it, you may want to rent the equipment from a photo supply store such as Samy’s Camera, Calumet, Pro Photo Connection, or something similar.

That way you can get familiar with the equipment and see what you like and don’t like.

In this picture, I used two strobes with umbrellas attached to them. Set up a tripod for my camera, and started shooting. If you have a self timer on your camera, that can help. However, if you have a remote to control when a picture is taken from your camera, even better!

I had this image in my head for a while, and HAD to finally get it out:) I’m sure you know how that feels. I wanted the picture to be fun and colorful! Afterwards, I did some photoshop of course, and that’s all there was to it!
