Run Your Mouth
Hello Young Photopreneur’s! As we near the end of our original article of 10 Ways Photographer’s Can Generate More Clients, I hope you have started to use some of the tips to help you! If so, I’d love to hear about your success! Today, I’d like to briefly discuss the importance of “word of mouth”.
Of course people need to know who you are and what you do in order to refer business to you. So in a sense, you have to run your mouth, in order to get word of mouth. Haha!:)
Here’s a few ideas I think could help you with that! I personally get a lot of work through referrals, and I’m sure you can too!
1. As mentioned in a past article entitled Golden Ticket Clients, your past clients can be like gold to you. You can start by asking satisfied customers for referrals.
2. Make sure your family and friends know about what you do. They can help to spread the word about your services, and you never know whom they may run into!
3. You could offer a discount off your regular rate, or offer something extra like more prints as an incentive to new business. Get creative!
4. Everyone uses e-mail these days, I’d suggest sending an e-mail to everyone on your list announcing what you do, where you’re located and what you can offer to them.
5. People always love to make a little extra money. You could offer a finder’s fee for anyone that brings you business after the new client has decided to work with you. That could be a great incentive for people to want to recommend you, especially if you have great work to back it up as well!
Always Network
As always, even outside of satisfied clients and people you already know such as family and friends, networking will always be a great resource.
I’ve met new people through networking that have referred business to me, or hired me, because of my personality, professionalism and portfolio. So you never know who you may meet, or how word of mouth travels. Which is why it’s so important to carry yourself in a way that represents you as a person as well as a confident freelance photographer.
Today’s post is short and sweet but I hope it has been useful for you, and you go out and “run your mouth”!
